Ahmed-i Hani is considered one of the troika of Kurdish literature, along with Melayê Cizîrî and Feqiyê Teyran. Although these figures are primarily known for their literary personas, their qualities as thinkers are perhaps even more significant and deserve further research. In this context, Hani's unique work, Mem û Zîn, contains many episodes related to various disciplines of thought. First and foremost, Hani considers his work to be “hilaf-ı mutad” (contrary to custom) and “bid‘at” (innovation). What does this mean? The subjects of the work include issues such as masks, play, the unconscious, displacement, power and nomadism, identity, and difference. Why are these issues addressed in the work? In this study, I aim to focus on these issues and present a different portrait of Hani.
