Ethical Principles
Ethics Committee Approval and Informed Consent
Articles submitted to Mebadi must clearly state whether ethics committee approval and/or any legal or special permissions are required for the research. If such permissions are necessary, the article should clearly indicate from which institution the consent was obtained, the date of approval, and the decision or reference number associated with the approval.
For guidance on the ethical principles to be followed in scientific research, studies, publications, and activities, as well as the duties, responsibilities, and procedures of scientific research and publication ethics committees established within higher education institutions, please refer to the "Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Guidelines". You can access the guidelines here.
If a study is exempt from ethical approval, authors must submit a statement explaining the exemption. An article submitted without ethical approval will be evaluated based on the guidelines provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), which will be used to assess any ethical concerns. Articles that do not comply with ethical approval requirements may be rejected, especially if the ethical issue is deemed significant.
Studies Involving Human Subjects
For research involving human subjects, authors are required to confirm that written informed consent has been obtained from all participants. The researchers must retain the signed consent forms for future reference. If the research involves minors (under the age of 18), consent must be obtained from the parents or legal guardians of the participants. In cases of surveys or interviews, authors must also confirm that consent for the use of personal data has been obtained from the participants. Personal information should be anonymized unless explicit consent has been given for identification purposes.
Confidentiality and Anonymity
Authors are responsible for ensuring the anonymity and confidentiality of participants, particularly in visual materials such as photographs. Signed release forms must be obtained for all images or photographs included in the study. Approval for publication of these images must be secured, and the terms and conditions of use should be clearly specified. This approval must be explicitly mentioned in the article.
